10 lessons mountain climbing taught me

Below are the 10 lessons I relearnt yesterday mountain climbing and why I feel these lessons apply to your body confidence journey

1. The hardest part is making the decision to start, investing (time/money) in yourself is the first part of your journey to get fit and healthy

2. The second hardest is actually starting – getting your trainers/boots on, doing something different, our conscious minds hate change (reading this is part of your making those decisions so congrats!)

3. You need a plan. Make the safest and best route FOR YOU. There are many ways to climb a mountain – do you want safety/scenery/adventure/a thrill?

4. Take it one step at a time. What is the next small step you can take?

5. Sometimes all you can do is take the next step, energy in motion stays in motion. e.g it is harder to start once you have stopped than it is to keep going, even if that motion is slow

6. You need to recalibrate and check you are on track with your plan. Have you veered off the path and ended up in some heather?

7. You also need to check if you still want to do the original plan. The weather can change, you may injury yourself e.g LIFE HAPPENS, sometimes your original goal doesn’t fit your life anymore. OR maybe the fact life has changed makes it even more important to stick your guns and do what YOU need to do for yourself.

8. Check in with your ego – It reminds me every time that nature and mother nature are way more powerful than humans

9. The vastness of the mountains remind me to stop and enjoy the view along the way. Find ways to enjoy the journey!

10. You are capable of more than you think. (read that again)
